If you’ve landed here, welcome! Thank you for taking the time to stop by my website and explore what’s here. I hope to post regularly here on my blog and share any news, fun things, as well as stories, behind the scenes information about my writing process, and sneak peaks and snippets of my writing.
Just in case you didn’t know… I’ve been working on my debut novel for almost a year and I’m hoping to polish off my manuscript and begin querying for agents by the end of summer 2019. It’s an adult fantasy novel, currently plotted to be a duology with a prequel novella set in the same universe.
An update on where I am in the writing process: February 16, 2019 word-count total: 83,011 words (roughly 238 pages for a paperback edition) in Book 1. I have no idea how many words the finished manuscript will be, but it’s shaping up to be a doozy of a book.
In the meantime, here are some FAQ (just in case you are curious and want to know more about my debut novel!):
Q: What is your book about?
A: War is brewing in Gaiya, for it is written in the stars. Three lives; three choices; one price to be paid:
A queen’s legacy, drenched in blood.
A soldier’s family, sacrificed in the name of duty.
An ancient kingdom, abandoned by their prince.
War is brewing and it will come with a price.
If you want more details, sorry! You’ll just have to stay tuned here in the blog.
Q: Is there romance?
A: A little bit. However, it’s a very slow burning romance, which means there is far more adventure than there is kissing. The book is more focused on the love of family and friendships.
Q: Describe the main character in three words.
A: There’s three main characters in this book – two (very) reluctant heroes and a terrifying villain:
Reluctant Hero #1: Dutiful, headstrong, and strong in body but weak at heart
Reluctant Hero #2: Protector, disciplined, and lives in his body not in his mind
Villain: Egomaniac, decisive strategist, but fearful of failure

Q: What are some things that inspired you to write this story?
The strength of adult female friendships.
Climate change and its impact on humanity.
The Seattle rain.
Bad-ass warrior women.
Myths and legends.
Q: Where is your favorite place to write?
A: Any place warm that includes a cup of coffee. I love to write in front of the fireplace or with a candle burning off to the side. However, since I currently work full-time as an academic law librarian, I have to be flexible about where and when I write.
Q: How many books will be in this series?
A: Short answer – as many books as I can write in this universe.
Long answer: It depends on how successful I am at pitching this idea to an agent and a publisher. I am hopeful for at least a duology and a prequel novella. However, I have created an entire universe with a complex and rich history so I would love the opportunity to explore every corner of this universe for as long as possible (I’m looking at you Brandon Sanderson).
Q: What sort of music do you listen to when you write?
A: Sometimes I write to music and other times I need total and complete silence. When I am listening to music I’m blasting epic, emotional soundtracks.
